Set up a Google Account with your existing (non-Gmail) email to access H&D project deliverables on Google Drive. We don't share with personal Gmail accounts. Chrome profile tip included.
Welcome! At H&D, we utilise Google Drive to securely manage and share all deliverables related to our projects and success engagements. Throughout our collaboration, we will share relevant folders within Google Drive with your designated stakeholders, allowing for easy access and download of deliverables to your preferred platforms.
Please note that our standard security policy prevents sharing folders or individual files with Gmail accounts that fall outside of your organisation's domain (e.g., accounts ending in @gmail.com).
Creating a Free Google Account
To ensure seamless access to these shared resources, you'll need a Google Account associated with your work email address (i.e., not a @gmail.com address). Here's how to set one up if you don't already have one:
- Go to the Google Account sign-up page. You can find it by searching for "create Google account" or by going directly to a page like https://accounts.google.com/signup.
- Click on Create account.
- Choose the option For my personal use.
- Enter your First name and Last name.
- Instead of entering a desired Gmail address in the "Username" field, click on Use my current email address instead. This link is usually located below the Gmail creation field.
- Enter your existing email address in the provided field.
- Create a strong password for your new Google Account and confirm it.
- Click Next.
- Google will send a verification code to your existing email address. Go to your inbox, find the email from Google, and copy the verification code.
- Enter the verification code on the Google sign-up page and click Verify.
- You may be asked to add a phone number for recovery purposes. This is optional but recommended for security. You can click Skip if you prefer not to add it at this stage.
- Enter your date of birth and gender.
- Review Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, and click I agree.
Recommendation for Existing Personal Google Account Users
If you currently use a personal Google Account (e.g., with a @gmail.com address), we highly recommend setting up a separate Chrome profile specifically for your work Google Account.
This practice helps to avoid confusion and potential access issues that can arise when using personal Google Accounts to interact with shared work resources.
Chrome profiles allow you to keep your browsing data, bookmarks, and logged-in accounts separate, providing a more organised and secure experience for your engagement with H&D.
To setup a Chrome Profile
- Open Google Chrome. Make sure you have the Chrome browser open on your computer.
- Click on your profile icon. This is usually located in the top right corner of the Chrome window. It might be your picture, your initials, or a generic person icon.
- Click on "Add". In the menu that appears, you should see an option that says "Add". Click on this.
- Set up your new profile.
- Choose a name: A small window will pop up asking you to choose a name for your new profile. You could name it something like "Work Profile" or use your work email address as the name to easily identify it.
- Choose a theme (optional): You can also select a colour theme or image for your profile to help visually distinguish it from your other profiles.
- Click Add.
- Sign in (optional but recommended). A new Chrome window will open with your new profile. You'll likely see a prompt to sign in.
- Click on the "Sign in" button.
- Enter the email address for your work Google Account.
- Enter the password for your work Google Account.
- Follow any further prompts to complete the sign-in process.
Once you've done this, you'll have a separate Chrome profile dedicated to your work Google Account. Your browsing history, bookmarks, passwords, and extensions within this profile will be separate from your personal Chrome profile.
To switch between profiles:
- Click on your profile icon in the top right corner of any Chrome window.
- You'll see a list of your profiles. Simply click on the profile you want to switch to, and a new Chrome window will open with that profile.
